Deferred Work - Additional "Buckets" Needed
Gerald Martin
Protractor needs a more flexible way to segment deferred work. When dealing with "good, better, best" type scenarios - such was tires - there is currently no good way to print these while keeping the associated taxes and fees linked to each package. These become a huge lump sum at the end.
It would help if:
- All taxes, fees, tire disposal, etc could stay linked to the service package.
- Better yet - if there were multiple deferred work buckets (like Mitchell's SubEst's) that would allow us to segment work.
This would solve the issue for multiple tire quotes for the same vehicle.
It would also work for Urgent / Less Urgent / Maintenance type scenarios when there is a laundry list that is needed. Ideally, each area of deferred work could have a custom title header typed that would display on the printed estimate.
"Michelin Tires - Option 1"
"Safety Critical - Brakes & Chassis"
...etc.

Darren Williams is there any possibility we'll see improvements to this in 2026? This remains one of the areas that Protractor's deferred work experience falls short of Mitchell, etc....

Darren Williams could this one also be merged with https://ptr.canny.io/ptr/p/good-better-best please, same request....
If we combine all the threads started for this feature it will be more evident how many clients are requesting it.

Darren Williams...is this on the roadmap? do we ever need it!

Darren Williams is there any update on this feature request? This one seems so basic and would simply be feature parity with long standing industry software like Mitchell1

YES, need this!

Yes we need to be able to do multiple estimates not just one large estimate. Then to add to this it would be really nice if there was a pop up when booking a customer that reminds the service advisors that the vehicle has deferred work. That way we could sell it at the time of booking and preorder parts.

YES!

Big need

Totally agree. basically any "estimate" has no place currently in Protractor. it's totally missing. all you have is work order and deferred. there is no place to put various estimates. huge issue when pricing out
anything.
