Tire Storage Module

We are a tire shop and we store tires on premise. It would be very helpful to have a tire storage module that tracks stored tires to the customer's vehicle. Would need the ability to also do the following. Print an acknowledgement form for signature by the customer. Print tire tags on 8.5 x 11 labels. Record a location after the invoice is closed. Search for tires in an inventory module or report.

Some ideas to elaborate on Greg's very valid topic! We also keep a storage of many tires for our customers. We use a very primitive method of masking tape around the tire with the customer's name on it. Then they get stored in a secure storage container with many others.
Can any of you all imagine the effort it takes to keep track of "who's who in the zoo" with this kind of a method!
We need a system that would maybe be like another type of inventory category. Each tire would contain a number of trackable fields that become pulled into the customer invoice for history reference.
Some fields to include could be:
- Customer Name
- Description/Brand/Model
- Size
- Remaining tread depth measurements
- Condition Used / New
- Position last used LF, RF, RR, LR
- Image file
I'd like to hear more ideas from you others that manage customer tire storage.
The addition of this module would be a huge advantage and time saver!

They integrate with Tire Storage Solutions, I saw it the other day when I was looking at their integration partners. Never used it, so not sure how that works but might work for what you're needing.

Joe and Robert Bostick (Dr. Tire): To me tire storage does not need to be outsourced or integrated to an external software that adds another monthly charge for my shop. All of the pieces are currently available in Protractor for Protractor to implement an inventory of stored tires in a user friendly fashion. Its just none of the pieces are hooked together to make it seamless and useable. All of the OK Tire shops in my network that I have spoken to that do internal tire storage have a hack within, and outside of Protractor (spreadsheet) to store tires. The shops in our network that are delaying the adoption of Protractor from a software like Costar are delaying doing so because of its lack of a tire storage module.
