Scheduler not showing employee holidays

It would be great if there was a way to show in the scheduler that a technician is off on holidays currently I have to book an 8 hour appointment for that tech. If you mark them as off in setting it just takes 8 hours off the day but does not show the technician that is off. It would also be nice to be able to see the notes in the appointment screen without having to hover over the appointment.

This is a valid request and needs a closer look. It makes no sense to me that I need to: 1. Go to Setup / Schedule to mark a tech absent. 2. Come back to the schedule and there is no indication of an absence other than the amount of hours at the top. Note that Joe Matthews is marked "Day Off" on Dec. 1. But you wouldn't know it from the scheduler window. I propose that the tech's hours planned for absence should be greyed out like a holiday is in the schedule. Also, this entire schedule is an archaic mess...at a minimum it needs to have calendar feeds enabled (they've been around since 1998, by the way, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar) to allow addition of events or absences from external calendars or leave management programs. Darren Williams Cavan Robinson It would be great to have the product managers weigh in here with some idea of the plan moving forward on calendars / scheduler.
Edit: Adding a screen clip from a company we are planning to use to track absences. Leavedates.com
There are an amazing amount of software services that have similar features, this one is very affordable and would write notes into the schedule when a leave is approved, if there was iCal integration.

How about an option to add notes to the schedule that are not new appointments for things like staff Holidays, Courtesy vehicles, Reminders, etc.

I just went through this with a tech that was out on leave for a while and I had to make 9 hour appointments for each day and put them on the scheduler to show he was off so someone did not accidentally book work for him.

Make a new appointment and make the duration .1/hour. That leave a slim line to input all sorts of information. We use separate lines for shuttle bus bookings and for holidays, notes and any other valid information

thank you for the suggestion but that would only work for the day you are looking at I want to know when I am scheduling a month down the road that a technician is on holidays.

You can also uncheck their name from the left side menu and hide them altogether
