Payroll

We've used the Protractor Payroll for years and found it to be very functional. It does work quite well in a hands on owner manager environment
However, the current system does not ensure the confidentiality we require when cheque issuing authorization is extended to the front staff
As is, any key employee that has authorized access to the bank can see the individual pay cheques. We've found that to be problematic.
Unless that is addressed we will continue to utilize a third party payroll service and dump the batch total into the bank.
Frankly, I've always considered the lack of privacy provisions on something as basic as payroll to be the principal limitation of the software.
It is time for Protractor to recognize that this pathetic payroll payment program is not usable and leaves outsourcing of the administration of our single largest expense item the only option.

Serena Ellis: as they already can limit who can access and see the bank statement I don't see the issue.

Serena Ellis: You can set it up so that individual screens and menus can be denied viewing. My employees with bank access can't see any information for the business or their coworkers

This is too much of a liability for Protractor. I recommend Payworks as a better solution. We enter all the details into Protractor (not just a GL transaction). We used protractor for payroll for years and payworks is just better.

Doug Brackett: Hey, I wouldn't want to underestimate Protractor's abilities to implement it! :)
