Option to Deactivate/Activate Inventory Items
Integra Tire #2
If an employee invoices an incorrect part from inventory, I would have one item with a quantity overage and one item that has a quantity shortage; this could happen more that once or with multiple different items. I would like the ability to catch these errors during our inventory count and do not want to filter out zero quantity items; the zero quantity itself could be an error, and should still be confirmed in the inventory count.
I do not want to delete inventory items because I would like to have access to the item's purchase history for warranty/returns, and for cost reference.
I would like the option to deactivate an item so that it can no longer be invoiced and can be excluded from inventory counting when necessary, however I would like the option to reactivate it again if we choose to restock it at a later date.
An example of this would be seasonal stocking items - if we stock these items for only a short period of time during the year, it does not make sense to delete all of the selling information, I should be able to activate the item during the times we stock the item, and deactivate it when we are out of season and no longer stocking the item.
Having the option to deactivate/activate items will help to reduce the risk of incorrect parts being billed out by staff in error and streamline the inventory counting process by providing a more accurate reflection of all items in inventory (including zero quantity items) that are “active” and should be included in the count.

Integra, what are you trying to accomplish with deactivation? OOS items don't show up on an inventory lookup already. For me, when I'm running a report with Inventory (let's say recount), I add a filter to display only items with a High Order > 0. I don't delete, but set High to zero when the item is on-hold. You can also filter with In Stock > 0 if needed. I offer this is it may help you immediately. If you need something else, please elaborate. I might be able to help you. I am an inventory-heavy shop. Maybe post on the FB forum or contact me directly. Hope this helps.
