Message Notifications to specific Advisors from specific techs

Subject: Feature Request – Custom Technician-to-Advisor Notification Groups for Completed Inspections
Hi Protractor Team,
I’m reaching out with a feature request that would greatly improve workflow efficiency and communication clarity for larger shops like ours.
Currently, under Messaging Settings > Message Groups, we can set up automatic notifications to specific groups when a technician completes an inspection. However, this setting applies uniformly across all technicians — there’s no ability to assign specific technicians to specific advisor groups for targeted notifications.
Recommendation:
We would greatly benefit from the ability to customize technician-to-advisor notification routing, so that notifications for completed inspections can be sent only to assigned service advisors or message groups. For example:
Techs 1, 2 & 3 → Notifications sent to Advisor 1 group
Techs 4 & 5 → Notifications sent to Advisor 2 group
Techs 6 & 7 → Notifications sent to Advisor 3 group
This would:
Prevent advisor message overload
Reduce the risk of missed inspection notifications
Align with our workflow where technicians are directly assigned to specific service advisors
Currently, the volume of notifications across one large group makes it difficult to track which advisor should be responding, especially when multiple inspections are completed simultaneously. This adjustment would ensure better accountability and streamline communication within our team.
A native solution within Protractor would be the most reliable and seamless.
We appreciate all the work your team does and hope this is something you can consider adding to the roadmap.
Sincerely,
Alex Vaillancourt

Modeling the text messages like Roles, Permissions, and Users would be great. Each type of text notification should be able to be assigned to a role or a user. The other thing that should be added is specific status changes to specific roles or users. i.e. when a vehicle is marked on site, a text message goes to the parts manager to ensure all parts are on-site, or at least ordered. To boost efficiency with the hardest position in the shop to fill, this would allow the parts manager to set the table for the technicians, rather than them hunting for the parts, This way someone would be ensuring all the parts are here before the vehicle is pulled in, and not wasting the tech's time looking for parts.
